# What Explorisle keeps, and what it never does

Explorisle is a free game on the web for children aged five to twelve. There are no adverts and nothing to buy. This page says what it keeps about your child, in plain words. The short answer: a seven-character player tag and what was answered and built under it. The first name your child types stays on the device Explorisle was played on. No email, no photo, no voice, no location.

## What it keeps

- A **player tag**: seven letters and numbers, like a code on a games console. It is not a name.
- Under that tag: which questions were asked, which were right, the level, what was built on My Island, the passport and badges.
- In a class, also: the seat number, the answer to each of the unit's questions (a choice from a short list, and a reason from a short list), and the *I can* statements your child ticked at the end of a session.
- The first name your child types stays on the device Explorisle was played on. It is never sent.
- A class keeps the name the teacher gives it, such as 5B, with its code.
- No email. No photo. No voice. No location.

## What it never does

- It does not record your child's voice. The read-aloud is recorded clips and the device's own voice. Where a browser offers an answer by speaking, the browser handles it and we store nothing.
- It does not track your child across the web. No analytics scripts, no third-party trackers.
- It does not sell or share anything with anyone.
- It does not send emails to children.
- Nothing is bought with money, ever. Gems and materials are earned by answering.

## Friends and classes

A child can visit a friend's island by tag, send a gift of a few materials a day, and leave a note chosen from a fixed list of kind phrases. There is no free typing between children. A class is a six-character code a teacher makes; children join with a seat number the teacher gives out on paper, so the class record holds seat numbers, never names. Names a teacher types next to seat numbers stay in the teacher's own browser.

## Who can see the progress

- Your child, on their device.
- Your child's teacher, in the class view, by seat number: the progress, the answers to the unit's questions, the *I can* ticks, and the player tag. The teacher sees the tag so a child who loses it can have it back.
- A friend your child gave their tag to can see their island, not their answers.
- Nobody else.

## Where it is kept

With Cloudflare, a hosting company, in a database set to keep its data inside the European Union. The game can be played from anywhere; each save is sent to that database and stored there.

- A record that is not saved to for a year is deleted.
- Gifts and notes between friends are deleted after 60 days.
- When the game is closed, or something goes wrong, the device sends a short report so problems can be found and fixed: the kind of device and browser, the screen size, the game's version, and the last few actions in the game, such as opening a question or sailing. It has no name and no tag, and it is deleted after seven days.

## Other services the game loads

The game's lettering comes from Google Fonts, its 3D engine from jsDelivr, and its pictures from our own file store at asurekha.com, which HubSpot runs. When the game opens, each of these sees the device's internet address, as any website does. None of them gets a tag or a name.

## Your rights

You can ask to see what is stored under your child's tag, or to have it deleted. Email the address on this site with the tag, or ask the school to pass the request on. We answer within seven days.
